Day 31
So what do I say for today? Today is the last day of March, the last day Selena lived, well morning, actually, she was shot at 11:45 and died at 1:05pm. I have to say I'm sad that it's over, there was so much more to talk about. The No Me Queda Mas hairstyle that I think is the greatest mystery as to how she did it herself, the see through shirts that she sometimes wore a decorated bustier under, how in the world she fit into jeans and pants, when some of her outfits looked practically painted on (Padrisimo Feb. 1995),and her awesome afro. I would say her best feature was her smile. What made her beautiful was her heart, and what made her accessible to fans, her openness. There are SO many stories about what she did with and to her fans. You have to understand that she was the Janet Jackson of Tejano music, that's how big she was. She would play baseball with the neighborhood kids, ride go carts with them, she actually let two fans into her house! (her husband thought they were her relatives), she didn't know who these people were, as she's coming out the shower, so she puts on some makeup and changes and talks with her fans INSIDE her living room! I mean what celebrity of that status does that? If Janet did that to me, you can think of the cloud I would be on, I would want that woman to adopt me! lol. She gave a lot of free concerts, if she could she would attend fans' games. Had she'd lived, she was going to take the kid that found her dog out to McDonald's April 2, 1995, the kids that helped look for her dog, she made cupcakes for them. She was sitting at Olive Garden on the (March) 30th with her mother, and saw an old lady eating by herself, she had the waiter send over a slice of cake to her, and paid for it. Things like that made her beautiful. Like I said earlier, her smile. I said it the first time I saw her, and I've said it all these years, she has the best and prettiest smile, I've ever seen. I used to call it the "Mile Smile" because you could see it from a mile. So unfortunately, this is the last blog post of 31 Days of Selena, but it was fun.
Next up, 29 days of Kate Middleton! In honor of her getting married on the 29th April, and she's 29 herself, lol. I will be talking about her lovely fashion, this chic has style!

31 Days of Selena Day 30
Day 30
In March 30, 1995 two things happened, Selena spent her last full day with her family and announced to her family that she was planning to start her own with her very cute husband, Chris Perez. The second which is near and dear to me, Celine Dion was born on this day in 1968 (happy birthday!) So since this was her last full day on earth, I thought I would talk about her last photoshoot. Also, the last song she recorded, "Puede Ser" in one take in her two-bedroom home, she recorded in mid-March is on this blog today.
Well Selena lost her luggage, and had to make do with the clothes she had, 2 jackets and a pinstripe suit. And of course it looked like it was planned, not by accident. Who would've thought that she lost a luggage of clothes? These were of course her designs, and she looked ever so beautiful in them, and very relaxed. The first jacket she's wearing is the blue jacket. With beautiful gold embroidery trim and at the bottom of the jacket. The second jacket is colorful and spunky like her personality, bright, happy and playful colors. I think this jacket completely describes who Selena was a person, with the colors and designs on the jacket, it has a child-like innocence feel to it, which is what Selena was like. The third and last one is my favorite. The pinstripe suit, this is the same suit that has the cut out in the back. She looks very sexy but yet again, very classy. Talk about a new way to spin a suit! This suit made it's first debut in January of 1995 at the Hard Rock Cafe San Antonio opening. As you can tell, Selena always did things with a twist. I mean who would've thought of turning a colorful and busy print into a jacket? And the thing is is that this is not just a jacket, but a business jacket. If you can find a way to look past the colors of the 2nd jacket, you will see that this is actually a business jacket, more of a blazer type, but when you first see it you don't think it. Oh and you though the "Illusionist" stopped making appearances? Come on now, who are you fooling?

31 Days of Selena Day 29
Day 29
So today I'm going to talk about Selena's casualness. Selena rocked anything with glam, but she could also rock casualness. She was really good at it too. My favorite casual look from her and a look that was inspired by Janet, the baseball cap with a ponytail and big hoop earrings. Also when she wore the Planet Hollywood sweatshirt with white jeans and white tennis shoes with light makeup and red lipstick. Selena was a natural beauty, makeup, in my opinion did nothing for her. It was just part of the "outfit" and "Selena look" she wore for the cameras, fans, and stage. I think the two videos that are the closest will see to Selena being casual are, "Amor Prohibido" and "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom" she even rocked her husbands t-shirts for "Amor" and true to Selena form, she glammed up a casual outfit. Mascara and lipstick with big hoop earrings make any casual around the house clothes look very glam. Trust me! I've been there! She got her beautiful looks from her beautiful mother and her sister had the same beauty. Like I always say, makeup was an insult to her beauty, she really didn't need it. If you ask me she could totally rock the bohemian look with light pink lipstick, long hair, and a flowy top with jeans or flowy dress and organic jewelry. Yes I think she would've looked beautiful as a flower child. But like Tommy Edwards said, "it's all in the game".

31 Days of Selena Day 28
Day 28
So yesterday (Day 27) we talked about her skirts, now we're going to talk about dresses. Selena wasn't much of a dress kind girl, although I think she would've been had she lived longer. She tended to wear a lot of long ankle length dresses due to her leg complex. She just didn't know what she had, but she also wore dresses with such class and glam. I think the most famous dress of hers was the Grammy dress, which is just so beautiful. I always said she looked like Cinderella, the dress was form fitting at the top, hugged her curves and flowed beautifully. She never wore anything that was too tight, or skimpy looking. There are few who can wear an extremely short dress or a skimpy dress and make it look hip and cool without looking like a skank, of course I'm talking about my girl, J.Lo who does this so effortlessly, where, Jennifer is sexy-glam, Selena is sexy-classy. Selena's Grammy dress that she wore in 94 made another appearance in "No Me Queda Mas" video, GORGEOUS I might add, the detailing which I got the privilege to see up close and in person at her museum was amazing. The second and last appearance at the Grammys 1995 where she should've won a Grammy for her "Amor" album she looked ever so beautiful in. Not to mention I saw that dress at the museum as well, and it's beautiful. The bottom of it was tulle which was asymmetrical cut, that I think started at the bottom of the knee and ended at the ankles.
The dress she wore at the Tejano Music Awards 1994, was a store bought, I know because Shania Twain wore the same dress, but without the fullness Selena had. Both looked very beautiful, with beautiful updos, I might add. Although Selena's updo was the highest I'd ever seen on a human being, lol. The very heavily inspired Audrey Hepburn dress she wore when she was receiving one of her many awards in 1992 for her album "Entre Mi A Mundo" beautiful, that is all I will say. The LBD (little black dress) she wore to a fan club event in 1994 is one of my faves. It shows a lot of skin, but covered in all the right places, very daring but very classy and fun. This is how you work a sexy dress! Beautiful makeup, updo, and little jewelry. I have to add that whenever wearing anything short like Selena did here and in Acapulco 94, wearing black tights, stockings, or pantyhose, makes it look less revealing while still being revealing. Youtube Acapulco 94 to see what I'm talking about. It's a very short skort (shorts with a skirt flap, or skirt in the front shorts in the back, the 90s version of a mullet in clothing), but it didn't look THAT short because of her black tights. Another example is Princess Diana in the "Revenge" LBD, it was very revealing but the black hose made it look less revealing. The red dress worn at the TMA 91, is so cute! Very beautiful, very flamenco, very Spanish, and yet again the hair is beautiful. She always got it right when it came to the hair because when you wear dresses like that, you want them to speak for themselves, and not have long hair which wouldn't look right. TOO many times have I seen beautiful dresses covered by long hair, it just annoys me! Always have the hair swept to the side, up, or short, or in a bun, to show off the dress, and if it's a lot of detail, very little jewelry. The dress has something to say, the jewelry is a small sidekick. Like, small soda to a Big Mac, let the Big Mac do all the pleasure, you know?
The last dress is my favorite, the mirror dress. Selena could unhook to make it a top or hook it to make it longer, she said it was very heavy, but I wouldn't care, I WANT it! And of course she made a replica of it and sold it in her boutique. How smart.
