The Best of the Emmy's Fashion 2011

So I'm here to critique on my favorite dresses. Unlike the VMAs where there was hardly anything to report on good fashion, this is a nice arm length list of beautiful dresses. Which makes my heart happy :-) Okay so let's begin!

Kate Winslet in Elie Saab
So first up is my girl Kate, my girl crush. lol. Ever since her career started and she made that big splash on the screen with a little movie called "Titanic" she has always stood by her word of not getting, botox, or losing weight to please others, and aging gracefully (one of the reasons why I love her) and this dress shows why not pleasing others is best. This beautiful red dress, is extremely sexy, but classy, which I have said in previous blog posts is hard to do. The low V-cut neckline is very sexy, but it only shows just enough cleavage and yes this is how you show cleavage in a classy-sexy way just enough. Her hair and makeup are beautiful and she lets the hair and makeup and minimal jewelry let the dress speak for itself. Go girl!

 Kerry Washington in Zuhair Murad
Kerry Washington is so beautiful it's ridiculous. She looks absolutely stunning in this dress. Let's start off with how wonderful her makeup is, very classic with the red lips. Her hair is beautiful and the diamond studs complete the classic look. Now onto the dress. This dress is beautiful. It's different then the rest of the red carpet dresses. Although, it's red, which was very popular on the red carpet, the skirt is see-through with a wide hem. Now this is how you do see-through! It's hard to do especially with a dress but Kerry sis everything right.

Claire Danes in Oscar de la Renta
This is a fun dress. It's by Oscar de la Renta. Which I have to say I was surprised by. It's young and fun, and Oscar is known for his more elegant older, hardly daring style. Only earrings were needed because the dress spoke for itself, Claire's hair look beautiful and she managed to give it that sun kissed, California glow that the dress needed. This stood out and was totally different then any other red carpet dress, but was still appropriate.

Julia Stiles in Georges Hobeika
One of my favorite actress, Julia Stiles looks so beautiful in this pale violet strapless Georges Hobeika. I absolutely love it. Simplicity is the key and Julia got it right. A simple clutch a ring, bracelet and small drop earrings work with this dress. I love her hair, it's very 1940s. This dress is absolutely beautiful and I totally want it in my closet!

Christina Hendricks in Johanna Johnson
Christina Hendricks is known for voluptuous shape and she carries it well although, some of choice in dresses have been questionable. She's wearing a beautiful silver gown with a high split showing off the wonderful shoes. It's Johanna Johnson gown and little else is needed because of the detail on the dress. Minimal jewelry and clutch is all that was needed and giving this dress color was her beautiful red hair.

Rachel Wood in Elie Saab
Like her fellow costar, Rachel Wood wore Elie Saab. Showing homage to the movie, Mildred Pierce she had her hair beautifully styled and the shoulders of this gown are a subtle reminder of the original Mildred Pierce played by Joan Crawford known for her shoulder pads and glamour. Everything is done right with this dress.

Heidi Klum in Christian Siriano
I seriously love Heidi Klum she can take anything and add pazazz to it. And I love her for it. This dress was designed by fellow Project Runway winner, Christian Siriano And she rocks it so well. I would say more, but I would run out of words.

Cobie Smulders in Alberta Ferretti
This is refreshing as Claire Danes dress. Whereas, Claire's was dark and flashy, this beautiful dress designed by Alberta Ferretti is light and airy. I just love this gown. It's different then what is normally seen on the red carpet, the color makes such a big difference. Once again letting the dress speak for itself minimalism is the key and it seems like all the ladies on the red carpet understood that and got it right time and time again.

Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan
Donna Karan does no wrong, and she has proved it once again. Her design is worn wonderfully by Nina Dobrev who fills out this dress beautifully with her curves. The beautiful design at the bottom of this dress takes a normal red strapless dress into something creative and beautiful. I love Donna Karan. :-)

Elizabeth Moss in Marchesa
This has Marchesa written all over it, and is one of my absolute favorite dresses. The nude hue and beautiful floral-inspired beading is stunning on this dress. As much as I love this dress, this dress and Elizabeth Moss don't seem to friends. I feel like this dress would look better on someone else. Something is off with the Elizabeth wearing this dress. Hmmm.....

Emily Blunt in Elie Saab
Okay so I have yet another girl crush, Emily Blunt. Every time I see her in a dress she gets it right. Not only is she an amazing actress, but she dresses well. She like Kate Winslet know how to keep it sexy yet classy. The plunging neckline is very daring, but yet is done well with Emily. No over spilling from the sides of the neckline and the neckline gives just the right amount of skin and draws you into her nice hips. Her hair being pulled up lets the dress speak for itself. I just love this girl. She does it yet again.

Kelly Osbourne in J. Mendel
Okay so I will admit I almost didn't put this one on the list because when I first saw it, reminded me of Nicole Kidman's dress she wore to the Oscars in 2003, Jean Paul Gaultier. It's the straps that did it for me. But after looking at this dress more, I imagined it without the straps and thought how much better it would look if it were strapless. Anyways, Kelly rocked it really well. I mean her hair is colored to match the dress for crying out loud. The subtle hues in her hair worked well with the matching jewelry and clutch. And it shows off her wonderful figure.

Kristin Wiig in Zac Posen
Hardly, ever does Zac Posen do wrong and the only reason why I put this dress on the list is because I can see this dress being so much more beautiful in a different color. I see the potential folks! And that's all I will say on this number.

Jennifer Carpenter in Tony Ward

This dress was another refreshing dress. Silver! lol. Like Christina Hendricks it was nice to see a different color besides the red that was being worn over and over again on the red carpet. The thigh high split is daring but it works well on her. It's young and hip looking.

Julie Bowen in Oscar de la Renta
Yes! Cleavage done right yet again! After so many years of seeing cleavage falling out, not being taped, pushed up to the chin or drooping to the knees it was so refreshing to see it done right. Oscar must have a thing for dark colors and shapes right now because this is Oscar yet again in a lame plunging V-neck gown. I like that it's not a long flowy dress and just hits the carpet and that's it. Julie's hair in a ponytail and drop earrings give it all that it needs. A+!

Martha Plimpton in Zac Posen
Yes even this cleavage is done right. At least it's not pushed up to her chin! This BEAUTIFUL gown by Zac Posen compliments her figure and cleavage, it's subtle and simple, and instant classic.

Kaley Cuoco in Romona Keveza
I seriously didn't recognize Kaley with the dark hair, it looks good on her. I love this dress cute and fun, she's wearing Romona Keveza and she did what no one else did, she gave her dress color! In her hand is a Judith Leiber clutch and matching color shoes. The only downside is the nail color umm....but you know what it gives this look a quirky sense of humor. Love it. And she did what I did for my prom, she brought her daddy as her date...awww!!!

And that concludes the best of the Emmy's fashion, loved that I had such a variety to choose from :-)
